Over nearly five decades of clinical practice and medical education, Professor Yu has made significant contributions to the advancement of clinical medicine through his tireless dedication and personal efforts. Not only is he an exceptional surgeon, but driven by a profound sense of responsibility toward his patients and a commitment to addressing the root causes of illness, he established the Yu Nutrition and Health Foundation and the Yu Medical Center.
Dr. Yu stands as a source of pride for the Chinese community. As early as 1973, he earned his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. In 1976, he served as a surgical resident at the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital—affiliated with Harvard Medical School—in Boston, Massachusetts; subsequently, in 1981, he completed his residency in Urology at the Johns Hopkins University Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland. In 1973, he was appointed as a member of the National Board of Medical Examiners. In 1983, he attained board certification from the American Board of Urology; furthermore, beginning in 1977, he served on the medical licensing examination boards for both the State of Maryland and Washington, D.C.
